About this Course

This is a two-part course. You can choose to do the first 6 weeks only, or you can complete all 12 weeks. Part One - with Margaret O’Hanlon Harmony is an essential part of any singers training. Whether you would love to join a choir, be part of a Musical Theatre ensemble, or just for learn for your own pleasure - having the skills to hear and create harmony will be invaluable. Just as our ears are trained to recognise the subtle differences between sounds in language, so can they be trained to hear the subtle differences between vocal lines. In this course you will learn to listen to the many different sounds that make up the whole of a song. Students will work towards the creation of a two-part or three-part harmony for a song of their choosing. We will be learning basic theory and chords. We will be looking at phrasing and finding the "blend" with one another. Students will need to have access to a piano or keyboard for this class. We will also be working towards achieving a group performance piece which we will perform at the Singers Only Open-Mic in May.
